28 Days of Swedish Adventures

In summer 2025 we set off on a trip that turned out to be something truly special – a 28-day family holiday across Sweden, from Dalarna to the west coast. We packed the tent, the camera and Leo's stuffed animal, and decided to experience Sweden for real – by train, car and on foot.

The trip became a mix of adventure, history, nature and family moments, filled with laughter, rain, mosquitoes and magical views. We encountered everything from Dala horses and mountain peaks to underground mine shafts, sunny sandy beaches and eerie military forts.

This is our whole 2025 summer holiday – the story of the places we visited, the people we met, the memories for life, and the experiences we'll never forget. We hope you'll find inspiration for your next adventure through our saved memories and stories.

Looking back on summer 2025, we realize it wasn't just a trip through Sweden – it was a journey together. We learned more about the country we live in, but also about ourselves. About patience, weather, roads and warmth. And even though we were sometimes tired, wet and hungry – it was always worth it.

With every step we took, we gained one more memory for life!

Don't Miss Our Other Holiday Trips

Thunder SHUT DOWN Leksand Sommarland!

The first stop on the trip – and a perfect start to the holiday! Here, swimming, carousels, waterslides and play awaited us from morning to evening. We stayed in a tent at Siljansnäs Camping, just ten minutes from the park, where we managed to swim, grill, and experience a proper thunderstorm that set the tone for the rest of the trip.

Sälen in Summer

From Dalarna we continued on toward the mountains. Here, fresh air, stillness and sweeping views over the valleys awaited. We explored hiking trails, ate waffles at a mountain café and enjoyed the calm – before the trip continued toward our biggest adventure yet.

Fulufjället National Park with Kids & a Storm!

One of the trip's most memorable experiences. We hiked in Fulufjället National Park, camped on the mountain, and battled midges and exhaustion – and eventually a thunderstorm that swept in over the mountain. A true wilderness adventure that reminded us just how powerful nature can be.

Åre – Rosita almost ended up in an ambulance

After the mountains came speed, spa and bike trails! We stayed right in the village at Parkvillan, swam at Holiday Club Åre, and tried out Åre Bike Park. A mix of relaxation and adrenaline rushes – and one of the liveliest places on the trip.

Tinkering with gadgets and gizmos at Mulle Meck

Leo got his dream come true – visiting the Mulle Meck Park! A playful and educational day with building, machines and creativity. Hudiksvall also became our first real stop by the sea, with the scent of seaweed, boats and summer fika at an old lighthouse farmstead.

Visiting the World's Oldest Corporation

Deep underground awaited Sweden's history – the World Heritage site Falun Mine. We walked through dark tunnels, heard stories about the Mine Maiden and Fet-Mats, and saw the wall in the Christmas Gift Room where royal names are filled in with gold. A powerful experience that gave perspective on work, history and courage.

Furuvik Amusement Park & Fort GE3

A day full of contrasts – from carousels and animals to Cold War concrete tunnels. At the far end of the park we found Fort GE3, a 1950s coastal artillery fort built to defend the port of Gävle. Standing in the cold corridors was like traveling back in time – a fascinating and unexpected part of our holiday.

Sweden's Coziest Campsite

We stop at Sweden's coziest campsite. Join us and discover a hidden camping gem just 1 hour from Stockholm with a swimming beach, minigolf and its own restaurant right by the water. Does Trosa Havsbad och Camping offer a fantastic stay, or?

Varberg Tropicarium – Jungle Adventure on the West Coast

Discover an unexpected tropical world just minutes from Björkäng Camping, where the kids get up close with crocodiles, monkeys and colorful turtles. 1 week at Björkäng Camping – family life by the sea

Join us for a summer week full of playground adventures, barbecue evenings, minigolf in the wind, evening walks in the sunset and little outings around Varberg. One of our most down-to-earth yet memorable adventures – perfect if you're looking for inspiration for a simple, kid-friendly seaside vacation.

our 2024 holiday turned into a mix of sea swims, crab fishing, stormy winds and cozy caravan nights – come along on our coastal summer adventure and get an honest look at camping life with kids.

From South to North by Caravan

WE BOUGHT A CARAVAN! Our very first caravan holiday became an unforgettable trip from Kungsbacka in the south to Stekenjokk in the north. With one-year-old Leo, we fished, camped, met family and friends, and discovered Sweden. The trip offered everything from fantastic campsites to wild camping up on the bare mountain!
